Malware Reverse Engineering was the most in-demand skill among security professionals in 2022. About half (45 percent) of the experts who took part in Kaspersky training courses wanted to improve and expand their knowledge in this area.
The demand for cybersecurity professionals is growing exponentially, outstripping the available skilled labor force as organizations pay more attention to their overall cybersecurity needs. In order to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, cyber experts rely on various training courses, including the courses in the Kaspersky Expert Training Portfolio.
45 percent interested in reverse engineering skills
Statistics from these Kaspersky training courses show that over 45 percent of the course participants—both beginners and advanced—were interested in improving their reverse engineering skills. As part of the training, there was also great demand for training on YARA rules (27 percent of all participants) and on incident response, malware analysis and product security assessment (28 percent of all participants).
"With the ever-evolving threat landscape, it is crucial for IT security professionals to keep their skills up to date and to develop them further," comments Victor Chebyshev, Lead Security Researcher at Kaspersky. “Our seasoned experts understand how best to deal with the sample-borne cyber threats that organizations face every day. They are happy to share this knowledge with everyone responsible for countering these threats. We want to train qualified specialists with high-level expertise and support companies in meeting their needs for professionals with the necessary qualifications in the best possible way.”
