Since the mass ransomware campaigns by APT groups and the collateral damage caused by the Ukraine-Russia conflict, cyber defense at the endpoint has been the hot topic. The AV-TEST laboratory has tested 17 endpoint security solutions for Windows and shows whether the company solutions can also be relied on.

In its series of tests on protection solutions for companies, the AV-TEST laboratory tested 17 endpoint solutions on Windows 10. Many manufacturers can score with strong results and even earn the additional TOP PRODUCT award.

Strong results in the test laboratory

For a comprehensive assessment of the protection quality of an endpoint solution, the laboratory tests each company product in terms of protection, speed and usability (primarily false alarms). In terms of protection, the test area is even divided into the real-world test with so-called 0-day malware and the test with the reference set, which contains thousands of examples of malware that has been known for a short time.

The company products from the following manufacturers were found in the laboratory test from January and February 2023 under Windows 10: AhnLab, Avast, Bitdefender (Endpoint and Ultra versions), Check Point, Kaspersky (Endpoint and Small Office versions), Malwarebytes, Microsoft, Seqrite, Sophos, Symantec , Trellix, Trend Micro, VMware, WithSecure and Xcitium.

A quick look at the test result shows many convincing values. Thus, 18 protective solutions ended the test with the maximum possible score of 7 and another 7 achieved an excellent 17,5 points. At 17 out of 18 points, the lowest scores are at a very high level of safety.

Good, better, TOP PRODUCT

Companies looking for a security solution that suits their needs hardly need to ask themselves whether the solutions provide adequate protection. The final table shows: 14 of the 17 examined security solutions for office PCs with Windows 10 get the perfect 18 or very good 17,5 points in the test. But the last three places, each with 17 out of 18 points, show the high level of protection the products offer.
