"More than likely we'll end up in a war": This is how Joe Biden has outlined a possible military escalation following a cyberattack, according to Spiegel. The American President Biden clearly mentioned the countries Russia and China.
In the last few months there have been serious cyberattacks with ransomware on American companies such as Kaseya, SolarWinds, the meat processing company JBS and Colonial Pipeline. Some of the attacks, such as on the Colonial Pipeline, had a direct impact on the population, as there was panic buying at the petrol stations, which in some cases resulted in a stagnation of the gasoline supply.
Biden warns of 'real war'
Against the background of the major hacker attacks and the resulting consequences, US President Biden Joe Biden has now warned of the growing threat of a real war. "I think it is more than likely that we will end up in a war - a real war with a great power - as a result of a major cyberattack, and the likelihood is growing exponentially," Biden said while visiting the chief's office of the National Intelligence Service (ODNI) on Tuesday, July 27th.
The American government in Washington is registering the growing threat from China and Russia. According to President Xi Jinping, it is precisely the Chinese efforts to “become the most powerful military power in the world and the largest and most important economy in the world by the mid-40s, i.e. by 2040”.
