Acronis is rebranding its flagship personal cyber protection product as Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office. The award-winning product previously known as Acronis True Image provides individuals with complete protection against all threats - from drive failures to cyberattacks

Acronis, the world's leading provider of cyber protection solutions, today announced the new version of its product previously known as Acronis True Image under the new name Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office. This new name for the company's market-leading Personal Cyber Protection solution better reflects the evolution from legacy data and systems backup software to a comprehensive all-in-one solution that combines next-generation antimalware technology with world-class Backup functions combined under one user-friendly management console.

Data protection and cyber security

The need for a combination of effective data protection and cyber security has become obvious in everyday life. Companies depend on the constant availability and integrity of their data, while private and other individual users worldwide send and receive large amounts of sensitive information via remote connections. In response, cyber criminals have increased the scope and complexity of their attacks. With advances in automating these threats, nobody is “too small to be attacked” anymore.

Backup plus security

Acronis has recognized the changing challenges for data protection and has accordingly been developing its solutions in the direction of cyber protection since 2017 in order to meet these modern requirements. When ransomware criminals began attacking backup files directly, Acronis was the first to integrate anti-ransomware technologies into a personal backup solution. In 2021, Acronis has further increased its cyber security focus and added corresponding functions such as threat-agnostic antimalware & cryptojacking protection as well as web filtering functions. The focus of the product has meanwhile developed from backup to comprehensive personal cyber protection, which can now protect not only data and systems, but also backups and devices.

Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (formerly Acronis True Image) offers a range of functions to ward off modern cyber threats and ensure comprehensive data protection. The unique integration of backup and cyber security technologies in a single solution not only makes overall protection easier and generally cheaper, but also offers extended functions that several individual solutions cannot offer - such as automatic data recovery, which is nevertheless possible damaged by a ransomware attack.

The advanced antimalware protection has been proven to detect and stop even the latest cyber threats - such as attacks with previously unknown zero-day exploits - in real time. The protection was also extended to certain popular software applications - such as video conference applications (including Zoom and Microsoft Teams) - in order to prevent attackers from accessing the transmitted data.

"The last two years have changed the industry landscape forever, no user is too small to be targeted," said Candid Wüest, Acronis VP of Cyber Protection Research. “The unique quality of our business solutions is the integrated cyber protection. Combining cybersecurity and backup is the only way to truly protect critical data. Now we offer Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office to protect individuals and the home office and keep the world running despite the challenges of remote work and distributed IT infrastructure.”
